In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.

Appearance & personality: Bilbo is a hobbit: Rotund, about three feet tall, with curly reddish-brown hair and large, hairy feet that are always bare. He looks solid and comfortable, and is about fifty years old (early middle-age in hobbit years.)

He dresses like the gentleman he is (in fact, he's something a of a clotheshorse.) He enjoys good food and drink and lots of it, fireworks, poetry, maps, and flowers and other growing things. He smokes pipeweed in a long pipe and is proud of his smoke rings.

He is very respectable and definitely not the kind to have adventures or do anything unexpected or even leave Bag End without a pocket-handkerchief. (Though hobbits say there's some fairy on his mother's side of the family, and that Bilbo inherited that oddness. Explains a few things that happened after an unexpected party, doesn't it?)

He lives in Bag End, Hobbiton, the Shire, Middle Earth. His birthday is 22 September, T.A. 2890, or S.R. 1290.

Point in canon: I plan to bring Bilbo into the bar prior to the events of The Hobbit, so he will still be a bit fussy and proper. After the release of the first part of The Hobbit movie in December 2012, he'll loosen up a bit.
